Drake Hastings

Drake Hastings is a speech-language pathologist with 13 years of professional experience. Drake has a passion for working with children and families while helping children achieve goals using a fun and motivating approach to learning.

Drake graduated the University of Connecticut in 2007 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Communication Disorders. Drake graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2010 with a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Since graduating in 2010, Drake has worked in early intervention (ages birth to three) in Connecticut. Drake also provides private speech and feeding therapy services for children ages 3-10. Drake has more than 13 years of experience working with children who are diagnosed as having autism spectrum disorder. He has experience working and collaborating with a wide variety of families and team members while treating children in early intervention.

As a fun and energetic speech therapist, Drake feels he is able to connect with a wide range of children. Drake prides himself on making therapy feel natural and encouraging for both the clients and their families.

Drake specializes in oral motor and feeding therapy. Drake is trained in a number of oral-motor and feeding techniques developed by Lori Overland, Sara R. Johnson, as well as Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT). Drake is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and actively continues to stay educated in the areas of speech-language and feeding therapy.  

Drake is the father of two young girls. Drake and his wife have personally experienced feeding issues due to structural differences with each child (i.e. ankyglossia, also known as tongue tie). Drake understands the challenges parents face with feeding difficulties that occur with infants and toddlers in the home.

Drake enjoys adventures and challenges of all types. Some of Drake's hobbies include; traveling with his family, long distance running, obstacle course racing, exploring and hiking with his kids, archery, and cooking.
